Wizz Air plane runs two hours late

Consumer association will initiate compensation action for flight W68186 Bologna-Catania

An airplane connection (flight W68186) operated by Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air was delayed for two hours, prompting the consumer association "Codici" to "initiate compensation and indemnity action". It happened Saturday evening on an aircraft departing from the "Guglielmo Marconi" Bologna airport, and directed to the "Vincenzo Bellini" Catania-Fontanarossa airport.

"It should be pointed out that the airline's organizational problems can never be a cause exempt from the obligation to compensate passengers, who are now due 250 euros in addition to any expenses incurred due to the delay. In light of what has been said, our 'Sportello del viaggiatore' is collecting reports of the inefficiencies suffered", explained the Center for Citizens' Rights Codici Sicilia, with regional secretary Manfredi Zammataro speaking of "serious defaults".

The Wizz Air airline aircraft was scheduled to depart Bologna at 9:50 pm and arrive in Catania at 11:30 p.m. "The official version-continues the association-provided to passengers stranded for hours on the plane is that of disruptions to computer systems that would have prevented safe takeoff". However, they explain, "the inconveniences already began at check-in with nerve-wracking waits and the flight landed at 1:30 am in Catania. During the long wait on board the plane, no assistance was provided to passengers, who were even forced to buy water bottles at a cost of 2.50 euros".
