Air India would like to buy 300 planes

Leaks on new ownership's moves to modernize fleet

Air carrier Air India is reportedly interested in a potential purchase of 300 aircraft. Other sources speak of 200 aircraft. The stage of progress in contacts with manufacturers is not known at the moment, but the airline has reportedly been in contact with both Europe's Airbus and the US-based Boeing.

This was reported by the US business news site "Bloomberg", although there is currently no confirmation from any of the parties involved. This is a move by the new ownership that would aim to modernize the fleet of the former state-owned air carrier. If confirmed it could be one of the largest orders in the history of global commercial aviation.

According to international media reports, the Indian company could order A-320neo aircraft, B-737 Max models, or a mix of both. An order for 300 of these aircraft could be worth up to 40.5 billion dollars at list prices if the B-737 Max 10 is purchased.
