Aircraft and transport. Lufthansa strike on the way
Pilots reject wage increase offer proposed by airline
German air carrier Lufthansa is grappling with a new mass mobilization of its workers, who have called for a strike in the coming days. In fact, the Vereinigung Cockpit union stressed that the company's pilots have rejected the latest wage offer made by the airline and are ready to protest, as announced last month.
Earlier in August, Lufthansa Group reached an agreement on ground handlers' pay, averting further strikes by them, after the agitation forced it to cancel more than 1,000 flight connections. As for pilots, they demanded a +5.5 percent wage increase in 2022 as compensation for inflationary increases, while Lufthansa's proposal fell short of the union's demands.
