The Italian Government gives an industrial strategy to Fincantieri

The managerial action of the top management of the Group has been stalled for months

With the first steps of the new government led by the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, a new phase also begins for the Fincantieri naval group. Not only because the top management of the company are accrediting themselves to the new Executive, but also because many of the current managers have been placed in that position by the ex-president Giuseppe Bono (recently deceased), some appointed shortly before he left his seat.

Furthermore, according to rumors relaunched by the "" news site, there would also be internal tensions over the figure of Admiral Matteo Bisceglia, director of the International Organization for Armaments Cooperation (OCCAR) since 2019, today head of Strategies of the Group, close to the CEO of Fincantieri, Pierroberto Folgiero. Area in which the president of the Group, General Claudio Graziano, would like to make the weight of his decisions felt more.

The stalemate in Fincantieri has lasted for at least 6 months. In other words, since there was a turnover at the top of the Group with the appointment of a new board of directors. It was the month of May. Shortly thereafter, in July, the Draghi government remained in office to manage current affairs and we had to wait until October 22nd for the installation of the Executive led by President Meloni.

Returning to the rumors, it seems that the government in office is pushing for greater skills in a sector, that of Defense, in which the new Executive has yet to clarify its true objectives. And therefore also those of Fincantieri, which is a company 71.3% controlled by the state through Cassa depositi e prestiti (Cdp), given the six-month stalemate in which the managerial action of Graziano and Folgiero is pouring.
