Italian Chamber votes Yes to military aid
Text approved in Montecitorio with 215 votes in favor and 46 against
The Italian Chamber of Deputies gave the definitive green light to the Ukrainian decree law today, extending until 31 December 2023 the transfer of Italian material assets, weapon systems, ammunition and military equipment that will be used by the armed forces of Kiev to continue to defend itself in the war against Russia.
The text was approved in Montecitorio with 215 votes in favor and 46 against (Movimento 5 Stelle, Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra, and Paolo Ciani of the Partito Democratico). The authorization is granted "in the terms and in the manner" established in the referenced legislation, and "subject to the address of the Chambers". This means that through inter-ministerial decrees, in particular from the Defence, Foreign Affairs and Economy ministries, Rome will be able to continue to provide military support.
