Atlanta airport the busiest in the world

ACi data 2022: London-Heathrow gives the scepter to Istanbul in Europe

Hartsfield-Jackson international airport in Atlanta, in the United States, will continue to be the busiest airport in the world in 2022. This is what emerges from the preliminary data of Airports Council International (Aci), the organization that brings together the main airport companies globally. An important novelty also emerges from the report: London-Heathrow gives the scepter to Istanbul as regards the volume of passenger traffic in Europe.

This is the 2022 ranking. The Atlanta airport, the largest hub of Delta Airlines, handled 93.7 million passengers in 2022. In second place is Dallas-Fort Worth with 73.3 million transits. In third and fourth place are two other American stopover: Denver with 69.3 million and Chicago-O'Hare with 68.3 million travellers.

In fifth place is Dubai airport with 66.1 million passengers, which however is the busiest airport in the world if we only consider customers on international flights. Los Angeles followed with 65.9 million transits. In sixth place is the first European airport of Istanbul with 64.3 million travellers. London-Heathrow closes the ten with 61.6 million, then New Delhi with 59.4 million and finally the "Charles de Gaulle" in Paris with 57.4 million passengers.
