Italian Civil Defense: Canadair airplanes in Israel against fires

Rome, Italy - They took off from Lamezia Terme and Rome-Ciampino bases this morning

Considering the critical situation caused by wide fires that are interesting some Israeli areas upon request by the local Government Italy throught the Civil Defence system sent two Canadair CL-415 airplanes of the Fire department that will operate to support the fire putting out operations that are involving some zones at the South of Jerusalem. The two Italian aircraft, according to the local authorities, will be arranged at the Hatzor Air Force base airport, 40 km South of Tel Aviv. Took off this morning from the bases of Lamezia Terme (Catanzaro, Calabria Region) and Rome-Ciampino, the amphibious planes after a technical stopover will arrive at the destination in the evening where the Israeli authorities will give indications about redeployment on the basis of the intervention needs and to continue to operate until the exigencies will be finished. 8 pilots, four technicians and a responsible of the Civil Defence Department will be in service from tomorrow, on Friday November 25. The costs on the foreign territory will be covered by the Israeli Government. The firefighting activity in Israel is managed by the Air Force with which all the operating phases will be organized. The Italian intervention is in the context of the collaboration relationship that for years allows two Countries to give rescue in particular critical situations.
