Airplanes. Italian Antitrust opened process towards Ryanair for unfair marketing procedures
Rome, Italy - Regarding the cancellations of flights, (PS10972)
"The Italian Antitrust authority opened yesterday a preliminary process towards the Irish airline Ryanair for supposed unfair marketing procedures violating the 'Codice del Consumo'.
In particular the Antitrust contests that the many flight cancellations made or in the next weeks, according to the press news reported, could amount to a violation of the application duties (article 20 of the Codice del consumo), in so far as they would be to a large extent attributable to organization and management reasons already knew to the professional, then not to casual and external causes beyond its control, provoking considerable discomforts to the customers that had long lost planned own travels and already reserved and paid the concerning air ticket.
To all this a second contest outline is added, regarding the standard and process of information with which Ryanair has informed passengers about flight cancellations and it has proposed to them possible solutions (refund or change ticket), that could be suitable to mislead consumers about existence and then exercise of their right to compensation predicted from the EC 261/04 Regulation exactly in case of the flight cancellations".
