Qatar fighter-bomber planes violate UAE airspace

New encroachment denounced in the skies of Bahrain

Threat to the safety of the Gulf countries: two United Arab Emirates (UAE) airplanes were approached last Monday by as many Qatar fighter-bombers. According to a statement by the general authority for civil aviation of the United Arab Emirates to "Wam", the official press agency of the UAE, the incident would constitute a "clear and serious threat to the safety of civil aviation and air navigation". By accusing each other of having encroached the nearby airspace in the past, the two countries don’t seem to find peace. Last year in June Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates had decided to break off diplomatic relations with the State of Qatar, accused of compromising the safety of its neighbors by financing terrorism. "Unjustified decision", declared the Foreign Minister of Qatar, commenting the interruption of diplomatic relations with Doha. Meanwhile the UAE carrier Etihad Airways announced that the aircraft that operate all flights coming from Qatar and going to the country of the Arabian peninsula are grounded until further notice.
