South Korea: F-15K fighter plane crashes
Two victims. Crash today against a mountain -3 VIDEO
An F-15K Eagle aircraft from the South Korean Air Force (Rokaf) crashed this morning (2:47pm local time) in unknown circumstances on the side of a mountain near the town of Chilgok, 300 kilometers south-east of Seoul. The fighter with two persons on board returned to the Daegu air base after a 1-hour routine flight. The mission was not related to joint military exercises with the US taking place in South Korea this month.
The same Air Force unveiled it in a note in these hours, in which it also communicates that in all likelihood there was no escape for the two military boarded (27 and 29 years old). A total of 600 people, including military personnel, firefighters and police officers sent to what is presumed to be the scene of the crash, are looking for the two pilots, but the thick fog at the moment impedes the search and rescue even by the helicopters, according to the local authorities unveiled it. As we write, no ground damage is reported.
An employee of a nearby golf club testifies to having experienced a series of explosions that would make the club house shake. According to the local press, this is the first incident at a South Korean F-15K since 2006, when one of the more than 60 units supplied to the Armed Force fell in the Eastern Sea during a night flight, killing a pilot and a second.
Below, two videos from the incident area, and repertoire images on the F-15K fleet of the Seoul Air Force:
