Italian Navy's helicopter crashes into the sea: a victim

The aircraft was engaged in a night-training activity
A SH-212 helicopter of the "Borsini" ship of the Italian Navy, of the "Mare Sicuro" operation in the central Mediterranean, fell yesterday in the late evening into the sea near the unit due to causes under investigation.
All five occupants of the aircraft were promptly recovered from the vessel's means. The crewmembers were then transferred on board the unit for the necessary assessments and health care.
Four of them are in good condition while the flight specialist, C° 1^ cl. Andrea Fazio, recovered in a state of unconsciousness, died on board the "Borsini" ship during resuscitation operations.
The family members of the military in service at the 2nd Helicopter Group based in Catania have been warned and assisted by specialized personnel for psychological and spiritual support.
Other units of the Navy came in assistance to the "Borsini" ship in the area of the landing in the sea.
The unit was engaged in a scheduled night training activity.
Ongoing investigations to verify the reasons of the accident.
