Russia: green light to St. Petersburg-Pulkovo airport connection
Early construction of the Aeroexpress land line will begin
The Government of Saint Petersburg plans to start this year the construction of the Aeroexpress line that will connect the city center with the "Pulkovo" airport. The news was given to the press by the vice-governor Igor Albin, on the occasion of the international real estate fair "MIPIM-2018" that took place in Cannes. A competition will be announced for the construction. According to the vice-governor, the volume of investments needed is about 25 billion rubles (about EUR 357.2 million), the amortizable in 12 years. The city will offer a grant that could arrive up to 10 billion rubles (about EUR 143 million).
The airport serves the city on the North part of the European Russia, and compared to this it is situated 16km at south. It has two runways with all modern systems that permit operation of the facility 24h per day. Thanks to infrastructural interventions since 2006 also the sky giant, the Airbus A-380 airplane can land on it.
The area hosts a cargo terminal, and two passenger ones: the Pulkovo 1 that mainly operates domestic flights towards CIS States and international charter; the Terminal Pulkovo 2 that serves the scheduled international connections.
