Algeria: military plane crash-landing
Over 250 victims
An Ilyushin IL-76 Algerian Air Force (Al Quwwat al-Jawwiya al-Jaza'eriya) transport plane headed to Béchar's "Boudghene Ben Ali Lotfi" airport crashed shortly after take-off from the airport of Boufarik, in Algeria.
According to the local media, in particular by "Ennahar" station in contact with some local civil defence sources, the aircraft would have crashed today at 08:00 am. It falled in an agricultural field located in the Blida province (about 30 km from Algiers) causing over 250 victims (passengers and crewmembers).
The crash gave rise to a huge fire. 130 civil defence officers, 14 ambulances and 10 means were mobilized in the relief operation to extract injured and victims from the wreckage.
