France: Minister Hulot meets the zadist environmentalists
Tension continues in Notre-Dame-des-Landes
The meeting between the French environment minister Nicolas Hulot, local authorities and environmental occupants who do not want to leave the Loire-Atlantique French area is planned for this afternoon at the Nantes' prefecture. Occupied by eco-activists for over ten years, the area of Notre-Dame-des-Landes until a year ago was destined to build a new airport of 580 million euros. Despite the project for the construction of the airport was abandoned by the executive, the demonstrators don't want to abandon the 1650 hectares of land on which they have set up their project of independent living based on a model of sustainable agriculture.
Ten days after the beginning of the eviction of hundreds of eco-activists Zad (acronym of the French "Zone à Défendre"), the ex-militant environmentalist Hulot is going to try to lessen the tensions arising from violent confrontations with the police. The authorities have given time to the zadists until April 23rd. Through a particular simplified form, in fact, the demonstrators could make an agricultural project that would allow them to continue living on the occupied land. French President Emmanuel Macron warned that after April 23rd "everything that needs to be evacuated will be evacuated".
