AVA-IAI partnership (2): the two industries' statements

L-39NG and L-159: aircraft technical details

Aero Vodochody Aerospace (AVA), a Czech manufacturer specialized in military and civil aircraft design and production, and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), a company that supplies technologies and systems in the defense and commercial markets, have created a partnership on the L-159 light multi-role combat aircraft and IAI L-39NG virtual training system (See AVIONEWS article connected).

On the cooperation in the technical and marketing sector signed by AVA and IAI, the respective presidents have expressed their opinion. The AVA president and CEO Giuseppe Giordo declared: "Together with AIA, Aero will be ready to offer aircraft with the best  available technology. The agreement brings us together with a strong international partner with acces to new potential customers".

"The cooperation with Aero Vodochody opens up new and exciting opportunities by combining the impressive proven performance of the L-159, with new innovative IAI systems, to provide customers with aircraft that meet their future requirements", said Joseph Weiss, Israel Aerospace Industries president and CEO.

From the development of the current L-39 comes the innovative L-39NG, a modern trainer able to guarantee, through the use of cutting-edge technology and equipment, a complete training process for future pilots of 4th and 5th generation aircraft. Equipped with five hard-points for weapons, the aircraft is powerwd by the modern  FJ44-4M engine supplied with the TAP Blue engine support service. The two-seat L-159 aircraft, a derivate of the single-seat L-159, was created for advanced and operational/lead-in fighter training purposes. The aircraft is equipped with a modern multi-mode IAI (Elta) radar that allows it to operate in all-weather, day and night operations.
