F-35 aircraft for the first time in the world in combat
Taken into the war theater by the Israeli Air Force
Several air raids in Syria and against advanced weapons convoys in Hezbollah
The Israeli Army used its new F-35 fighter planes in combat, for the first time ever: the Air Force commander, General Amikam Norkin, said it. He declared that "The Adir plane is already operational and flies in combat missions, we conducted the first raid with F-35 to the world by attacking twice in the Middle East".
Israel has conducted various air attacks in Syria against those that have set Iranian targets and against targets considered conveys of delivery of advanced weapons to Hezbollah. The country in 2017 had in order 50 of these fifth generation single-seat multirole fighter aircraft, of American construction. Specifically, it commissioned 33 in two series, one from 19 airplanes as per 2010 order, one from 14 ones in 2014. Also in 2014 an option for 17 planes that was transformed into order in November 2016, which led to 50 the number of units ordered.
Heyl Ha'Avir, the Israeli Air Force announced last December that its first nine F-35 Lightning II were operating, called "Adir" in the Israeli variant.
