Germany: collapse in demand for aircraft and ships
Industrial orders' decrease for German economy
According to provisional data released by the German Federal Statistical Office Destatis, an industrial orders' sharp decrease has occurred in Germany in April.
The German Ministry of Economy is convinced that the collapse is due to the weakening of the demand for vehicles that are not cars and trucks. The drop in orders is in fact attributable to capital goods (-5.6%) and to the weak demand for rail vehicles, aircraft and ships that has fallen by 35.9% in relation to the previous month. On the contrary, orders for consumer goods increased by 2.2% and those for semi-finished products grew by 2.5%.
After the strong economic growth of the second half of 2017, we can see a powerful cooling of German economy that, according to the opinion of an analyst, was not affected by a similar collapse of industrial orders since 2012.
