American F-15 fighter plane crashes into the sea off Okinawa
Pilot rescued by a Japan Air Self-Defense Force helicopter
An American USAF (United States Air Force) 18th Wing F-15 fighter plane crashed into the sea off the Okinawa Japanese island today at 6:25 am (local time) during a training flight.
According to what the Japanese press agency "Kyodo" reported, the incident that involved the fighter plane taken off from the Kadena Air Base would have occurred, due to a technical malfunction, 80 kms south of Okinawa (other sources place the event 120 kms from the city). The pilot managed to eject from the aircraft and reported serious injuries and leg fractures. The man was rescued at 7:45 am by a Japan Air Self-Defense Force helicopter and he was taken to the US Navy Hospital at Camp Foster.
