Farnborough (6): presented the "Tempest", a new Anglo-Italian project

The future fighter will be the answer to the French-German one

The first major news expected of the armed forces and the British aerospace industry concerned the future projects that His Majesty's government planned to pursue following the Brexit. One of the first announcements at the "Farnborough Air Show" is that Bae Systems, Rolls-Royce, MBDA UK and Leonardo will work together to build the future Anglo-Italian fighter plane "Tempest", which will counteract and compete with the new aircracft that will be built in collaboration between Germans and French.

Secretary of Defense Gavin Williamson announced the new aircraft to the press, declaring that it will be part of a GBP 2 billion investment program. A pomp and circumstance presentation accompanied by a life-size model of the Tempest, for which aerospace company will work on the development in the next ten years so as to make it operational by 2035.

An important industrial choice also for Italy and for Leonardo, which decides to cooperate directly with the British industry in order to build the new generation fighter designed to compete with both the F-35 and the future Franco-German.aircraft.
