Dema announces new Board of Directors
Three executives added to the founder Starace, confirmed as CEO
The shareholders of Dema SpA –Bybrook Capital LLP, VemaInvest and Newcam- have appointed, on the occasion of the last shareholders’ meeting, three new Board members for the next three years.
The three directors –Fabrizio Giulianini, Jean-Michel Aubertin and Marco Fumagalli- are important international business executives with a key focus on aeronautical and industrial applications. They will work together with the founder Vincenzo Starace, who has been confirmed CEO and elected Deputy Chairman by the new board.
Fabrizio Giulianini has also been elected Chairman. He has 40 years of working experience in engineering and high-tech international companies.
In particular, he gained a deep knowledge and a vast experience of the Aerospace and Defence international market working for GTE Government Systems corp. group (USA), then for Marconi plc group (UK) and from 2002 for Finmeccanica SpA, now Leonardo. In Finmeccanica he assumed increasing top management responsibilities such as: Deputy MD of Marconi Selenia Communications group; MD and GM of MBDA Italy and Executive Group Director of MBDA group; CEO and GM of Selex Galileo group; CEO and GM of Selex ES group, the company of Finmeccanica with almost 17,000 employees worldwide. In January 2016, and up to his retirement in June 2017, he was Executive Vice President of Leonardo and Director of the Electronics, Defence and Security Systems Sector, the Sector of Leonardo, with almost € 5.5 billion of turnover and more than 20,000 employees world wide.
Jean-Michel Aubertin has held several top management in industry for the last 30 years focusing in the transformation of troubled businesses.
First in aerospace with Matra and then EADS (now Airbus) where his last assignment was as President of the Telecommunications Satellite Division, Jean-Michel then moved to the energy sector where he was successively Senior Vice President, in charge of the Energy and Environment Systems division, CEO of Doosan Power Systems and CEO of Crompton Greaves Power. He is today an operating advisor to Private Equity Firms.
Marco Fumagalli is a senior executive with global leadership experience in both corporate and entrepreneurial environments. He is currently the CEO of im3D, an Italian innovative med-tech company providing oncology diagnostic services enabled by proprietary CAD (Computer Aided Diagnosis) technology. Previously he was both the President & CEO of the US operations and the global SVP of Strategy, Quality and Improvement for Ansaldo STS, a global public company in rail transportation. He worked also as an entrepreneur in Silicon Valley and as a consultant for the Boston Consulting Group in the Milan and San Francisco offices. He holds an MBA from Stanford University and a Master in Engineering from Politecnico di Milano.
The new BoD shall hold office until the approval by the shareholders’ meeting of the financial statements of the Company as of December 31st, 2021.
In accordance with the business development policy and the organic and inorganic growth, the new board objectives are:
- establish the company success strategy for its positioning in the aeronautic sector and in the achievement of its agreed business plan centered on value creation;
- monitor performance and attainment of objectives against targeted performance, ensuring management is focused on the delivery of the strategic plan; and
- ensure that the company employs best practice in respect of corporate governance.
The shareholders meeting has also confirmed the statutory board: Massimo Bianchi (Chairman), Mauro Borghesi and Renato Pedullà (staff auditors).
