Malaysia: the president of the civil aviation authority resigns
After the publication of the report on the disappearance of MH370 flight
After the final report was published yesterday by the Malaysian authorities -who had commissioned an independent commission of inquiry- on the flight of Malaysia Airlines 370, operated by a Boeing B-777/200ER plane on the Kuala Lumpur-Beijing route, the president of the civil aviation authority of Malaysia Azharuddin Abdul Rahman has resigned.
The report highlighted both the impossibility of understanding how things actually went on board the aircraft, and the shortcomings on the part of the flight controllers that didn't activate the emergency phases foreseen following the disappearance from the radar of the Malaysia Airlines aircraft. "It is with regret that I decided to resign", announced Rahman today.
