Aeroméxico: plane crashes shortly after take-off from Durango

No dead among the 103 passengers on board

An Embraer ERJ-190AR airplane with XA-GAL registration of Aeroméxico crashed yesterday after take-off from the "General Guadalupe Victoria" international airport of Durango, in the route for the capital city of Mexico. On board 103 people and -at the time- would be all survivors, even if injured and only the pilot and a passenger would be in a serious way but their conditions have been declared stable.

Flight AM2431 impacted with the woodland at the end of the runway, igniting immediately after striking the ground. The reason for the accident isn't clear yet, but it would seem to have been due to bad weather and the strong wind present in Durango, but to be sure of what really happened it will be necessary to await the conclusion of the investigations, already started. However, it remains a "lucky" incident because despite the impact and the fire that broke out immediately after, no deaths were recorded.

The managing director of Grupo Aeromexico Andres Conesa -as reported by a note of the airline- said: "Our thoughts are towards the people affected and their families. I want to reiterate that we will do everything to assist them".
