Japan: earthquake during the night and closed the Sapporo airport
Second natural disaster in three days
There is no peace for Japan this week, because after the typhoon "Jebi" that hit the main island the day before yesterday causing massive damage and forcing the authorities to close the "Kansai" airport in Osaka, tonight a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit the island of Hokkaido, which is the northernmost of the main ones.
Of 8 dead, 126 injured and 40 missing is the budget in terms of human lives, while at the level of infrastructure the jolt caused a blackout that also affected hospitals, telephone lines and television transmission equipment, in addition to damage to buildings and streets. Even the infrastructure was damaged by the earthquake, so much so that the Japanese transport Ministry has decided to cancel the Shinkansen trains and to close the entire day of Sapporo airport, the main airport of North Japan.
