Primera Air: new failure of an European carrier

Bankruptcy declared yesterday

New failure for an European carrier. To close the activities is the mixed charter and low-cost company Primera Air that brought the books to the Court yesterday, announcing at the same time the suspension of all flights operations and IATA codes registered. The Danish airline -owned by Icelandic- had started operating in 2003 offering charter connections, but over the years it had decided to become part of the low-cost market and managed to reach 97 destinations in more than 20 countries. In the last few months the carrier had started to send disturbing signals when many planes had not taken off due to problems that had not been clarified -but which hid economic difficulties- nevertheless, the leadership of Primera Air announced its intention to inaugurate the first connections from Frankfurt and Madrid in 2019 towards New York, Boston, Toronto and Montreal. The last attempt perhaps to try to save the company by attracting investment, but that has evidently failed since it has ceased all operations.
