A relaunch on Alitalia from China?
Di Maio in China asks for investments in Italy
"I had the opportunity to compare myself with private investors: a great confidence was expressed in the Italian economy and the desire to further increase investments".
The Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio declared it during a press conference in Shanghai, where he is for a journey to promote "Made in Italy". Some accredited sources suggest that in his talks Di Maio also discussed the possibility of a substantial investment in Alitalia by Chinese capital. In fact the three main Chinese carriers are already present in SkyTeam, an international alliance from which Alitalia can not leave before 2022 if not paying a penalty of EUR 200 million. Delta and Air France-Klm are also in the same alliance. The permanence in international jv would help Alitalia to be a protagonist also on the long haul. Staying in SkyTeam moreover the airline would have a further advantage for the miles accrued by the passengers on the flights of the companies adhering to SkyTeam. Naturally, the diatribe must first be dissolved with Etihad that was sold the "Mille Miglia" program during the management by the Arabs.
