The second (judgment) exam for Mauro Moretti
For 2 crimes is incumbent the risk of the prescription
The second degree trial on the Viareggio train derailment, which caused the death of 32 people (including some young people), will resume on December 19th at 9:30am in the Third Section of the Court of Appeal of Florence, when the Court will face the requests made by the lawyers of the accused including the exact scheduling of the continuation of the trial. In the first instance judgment (see AVIONEWS) the former CEO of Ferrovie dello Stato Mauro Moretti was sentenced to 7 years for "railway disaster, culpable fire, multiple culpable homicide and personal injury", making him "lose" even the position of CEO of Leonardo.
The appeals process should be completed by April, but if the time is right, the risk of fire and injury will be prescribed, in what would be a double "drama" for the families of victims and "Il Mondo che vorrei" association has repeatedly asked the defendants to renounce it. So far, however, no one has declared to renounce -if will be necessary- to the prescription, and the process will go on with this incumbent risk; also the president of the Justice Committee of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Giulia Sarti (Movimento 5 Stelle) said that "it would be intolerable if some defendants will get by thanks to the prescription".
