India: new helicopter flight produced by itself
Could it be a competitor for European, US and Russian?
The prototype of the light transport helicopter built by the HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) has carried out its third flight in the past few days, but this time the aircraft was in the version that should also be produced for the systems onboard. The three units built up to this point will continue in these months the tests on the ground and in flight, so as to allow the Indian press to start mass production in the next year. HAL's goal is obviously the armed forces of India that need new helicopters, and the opportunity to sign a contract with a public industry for the supply of new generation light aircraft is unlikely to be exploited.
If it was to receive appreciation also the LUH (Light Utility Helicopter) could also be sold on the international market, especially in those countries where spending opportunities are limited. It could therefore become a future competitor for light helicopters produced in Europe, the United States and Russia.
