Philippines: permission asked to fly over Saudi air space
Objective to reach Israel faster
The Philippines would have filed a request to the civil aviation authority of Saudi Arabia to allow the overhead flight to Israel to Philippine Airlines, but the problem is that Riyadh does not recognize the Tel Aviv government. In favor of the request, however, is the fact that last March the Saudis gave the green light to the passage of a commercial plane on the route between New Delhi and the Israeli capital, marking an important precedent and that also represents a desire to pursue a different road at the diplomatic level, especially in the anti-Iran perspective.
In the event that the approval should arrive, the carrier Philippine Airlines would open a connection between Manila and Tel Aviv, which would save time and money by passing over Saudi Arabia. A problem that gripped the Israeli company El Al that in order to make its routes to the Arabian Peninsula, Asia and East Africa is obliged to follow its planes tortuous routes in order to avoid the Saudi skies.
