USA: rally today to ask for end of shutdown

If you continue from Saturday (also) risks for air transport

In the event that government shutdown continues after Friday the airport workers of the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) and air traffic controllers have warned that there could be "breaches" in the security system, and many employees could "cross their arms" because of the non-payment of salaries.

Today is a demonstration in Washington and to call for an end to the shutdown especially because if it was to continue for other days the real risk is that you get a total paralysis of federal activities in the United States, including air transport. The economic damages to the airlines could be very many even for a single day of stop.

The labor unions of the TSA have stressed that it is not possible at present to hire employees in exceptional circumstances. The protest that could be put in place hides, however, also another purpose, namely to make known the working conditions in the airports especially with regard to salaries, which are among the lowest among federal employees.
