Airports in Germany: today's strike will hit 220,000 passengers
Many planes will remain at the ground
The security workers' strike in 8 German airports -including Frankfurt and Munich- which will run from 8am to 8pm is causing many cancellations and delays in departing aircraft. The agitation -proclaimed by the Verdi union- could affect about 220,000 passengers, who were advised to contact the airline before arriving at the airport. The reason for abstention from work is linked to wages, as employees demand an increase in minimum hourly wages, especially given the "efforts" and overtime required for security checks, mainly due to the continuous increase in the number of people passing through the airports. Next week there should be a meeting between the union and the management companies of the different airports to try to find an agreement, avoiding a new strike.
