China Airlines: 7 days of strike for the carrier

20,000 passengers at ground. Negotiations with the trade unions continue

Although a first agreement between China Airlines and the pilots was found, the strike by airline employees continued for a week, and so far forced the company to cancel more than 100 connections to China, Japan, Singapore and Europe, leaving land over 20,000 passengers. A protest that is putting the Taiwanese airline in serious trouble. The unions last Wednesday have found an agreement after 11 hours of negotiations with China Airlines, but until the signing of the agreement is signed, the abstention from work will continue. A next meeting between the parties should be tomorrow, so as to find a solution to the latest diatribe concerning the requests for new hires so as to reduce the hours of flight of those in force at China Airlines, while respecting the international rules on safety. Moreover -according to the Chinese press- the unions would have also asked for the resignation of the human resources manager of China Airlines and the opening of a table of continuous dialogue between the workers and the management. There are not only motivations related to security and lack of dialogue between the parties, because it seems that the other request is to decrease the number of assumptions from abroad that should become at most 5% of the total workforce against the current 10%.
