Alitalia: Delta confirms its intention to maintain a "partnership"
The low-cost easyJet out of negotiations
Other change for the future of the Alitalia carrier because easyJet announced that it had "made the decision to withdraw from the negotiations that are underway with Ferrovie dello Stato and Delta Air Lines to explore the possibility of setting up a consortium that could manage future airline operations". An announcement that also follows some diametrically opposed visions between the British low-cost and the Italian public company which -following the government's will- has excluded any possibility of making a "stew" of Alitalia, in order to preserve the centrality of the hub of Rome-Fiumicino airport and employment level.
There is also a other change because Delta with a statement -that "belies" the rumors reported today by "Il Messaggero" according to which a broad agreement was found in the Atlanta meeting between the CEO of Ferrovie dello Stato Gianfranco Battisti and the CEO of Delta Ed Bastian- has confirmed "to continue exploring the ways to work together with Fs and maintain the partnership with Alitalia in the future". Words practically similar to those released a few weeks ago by Ed Bastian who had in fact ruled out an important investment from an economic point of view, emphasizing only the importance that Delta has for remaining "tied to the Italian airline". And who knows if easyJet's exit from the scene won't change -again- the cards on the table.
