Aircraft and transport in Italy: 24 hours of strike on May 21st
The Alitalia issue will be central
One mights say and yet it moves! (see AVIONEWS). This because after many expectations on May 21st in Italy the transport workers (excluding flight attendants) will cross their arms for 24 hours. A strike decided by Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uiltrasporti and Ugl Trasporto aereo to ask the Government to resolve the Alitalia issue and to re-launch the carrier and the aircraft transportation sector in general.
Moreover, today, the extraordinary commissioners of Alitalia Daniele Discepolo, Stefano Paleari and Enrico Laghi will go to the Ministry of Economic Development in a meeting aimed at verifying the extension request sent by Ferrovie dello Stato to postpone the date set for the presentation of the binding offer. The decision -due to some rumors- will be in favor of an extension of a few weeks, also considering the will and governmental need to continue to try to involve an industrial partner.
