Yemen, rebels launched drone attack

UAV was used against the loyalist military parade

In Yemen, the Houthi insurgent movement launched a drone against military parade of Arab Saudi-led coalition forces in the southern port city of Aden. The news was given by the media linked to the rebels, stating that the attack took place late on Sunday. Saudi Arabia, which has not issued official comments, has announced via its "al Hadath" satellite TV station that "air defenses have intercepted and shot down a drone west of Aden". No source of the coalition or the insurgents has reported victims.

In recent months, drones have often been used by Houthi rebels to hit Saudi targets. In January one exploded during a military parade killing 6 soldiers and wounding 12 others at the Al-Anad airbase, the largest in Yemen, used in the past by US special forces engaged in the fight against al Qaeda in the country. Other explosive drones were launched against pipelines and airports of loyalist forces.
