Even the Italian AMI at the "Air Tattoo 2019"
Trophies and awards for the "Frecce Tricolori" and for the 15th Wing
The Italian Air Force took part in the "Royal International Air Tattoo 2019", one of the most important air shows on the world aeronautical scene, from 19 to 21 July, at the Fairford air base (United Kingdom). During the last week-end the very numerous public attended the technical demonstration of the F-2000, C-27J and T-346 aircraft of the Experimental Flight Department and the evolution of the National Aerobatic Team which dyed the leaden English sky with the colors of the Italian flag. Particularly appreciated was the performance of the "Frecce Tricolori", which in fact received, for the second time in their history, the prestigious RAFCTE Trophy for the "best flying demonstration by an overseas participant", that is the recognition that each year is given to the best aerial performance among all those proposed by foreign structures or teams.
However, the one awarded to the "Frecce Tricolori" was not the only award given to the Air Force: in fact the Concours d'Elegance award, for the display of the HH-101A helicopter as the best staging in a static exhibition of the event went to the 15th Wing in Cervia (Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna region). Moreover, the many "Tattoo" enthusiasts were able to appreciate, still in static display, an HH-139 of the 15th Wing, an IDS Tornado of the 6th Wing of Ghedi and a C-27J aircraft of the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa.
Also present at the "RIAT" was the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General of the Air Squadron Alberto Rosso, who on the same days took part in some important institutional appointments, including the Air & Space Power Conference (ASPC), focusing on this year on the strategic perspectives of the United Kingdom and of the Alliance partners. The air show also represented an important opportunity for sharing and informal discussion on aeronautical cooperation issues, and it was a fruitful and interesting opportunity to hold a series of bilateral meetings with representatives from Australia, Israel, Kenya, Pakistan, the United Kingdom Kingdom and Singapore.
