Libya: Mitiga airport has been attacked again
A civilian plane escaped the bombing
On August 4, while a Mitiga airport was attacked, a civilian plane coming from Benghazi with 124 passengers on board, miraculously escaped the bombing. To allow the movements, the air traffic has been moved towards the Misurata airport until the resumption of the functionality of the Mitiga airport in the evening. From April 4, Tripoli is a victim of the offensive of General Khalifa Haftar for which the UN has already invited a truce (see AVIONEWS).
The UN envoy for Libya, Ghassan Salamé, condemned "the repeated indiscriminate bombing" against the Mitiga airport (see AVIONEWS) and relaunched the appeal for peace in view of "Eid al-Adha", the Islamic festival of "sacrifice" that will be celebrated on August 11th.
