Airplane-helicopter collision in Mallorca: 7 dead including two children
The Spanish media: the most serious incident in the history of the Island
On Sunday, August 25th at around 1:35pm (local hour) 7 people died and two others were injured following to a collision in flight between the Bell 206L-3 Long Ranger III (D-HOTT registration) helicopter and the Aeroprakt A22L Foxbat ultralight airplane, EC-GU1 registration, in Inca, in the island of Majorca. The two private aircraft, after the collision, crashed on an agricultural field near Manacor.
The seven dead yesterday are: the two Spanish Juanjo Vidal and his friend Gustavo Serrano aboard the ultralight, while on the helicopter were the Italian Cedric Leoni and a German family, composed of a couple and their two children aged seven and eleven.
The Spanish media described the impact as the most serious aircraft crash that occurred on the Island after the tragedy of Alfàbia in 1959, which caused the death of five people.
