US-Syria-Turkey: the reactions by Russia and Iraq

Concerns and doubts

Following the withdrawal of American soldiers from Syria (see AVIONEWS) and the start of the Turkish incursion which saw yesterday the arrival of a convoy of 130 armored vehicles on the border of Akcakale, in the province of Urfa, near the Kurdish city of Kobane, the reaction by Russia and Iran did not wait.

The Kremlin spokesman, Dimitry Peskov said he was not informed of the withdrawal of US soldiers from Damascus and declared himself doubtful about the fact that the United States could move away completely and definitively. He added: "Moscow continues to follow the situation closely and looks forward to finding out if and how many soldiers will be recalled by the Americans".

The President of Iraqi Kurdistan Massud Barzani said he was "very concerned about developments in western Kurdistan. We will do everything we can to ensure that the people of the area do not suffer a further catastrophe".

Meanwhile, US leader Donald Trump will receive Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on November 13 at the White House.
