Iran: today gas injection in centrifuges
Nuclear plant soon operational
As announced yesterday (see AVIONEWS) Iran begins today to inject uranium gas into its 1044 centrifuges at the Fordow plant. A decision that pushes the country away from the 2015 nuclear agreement called the Joint Global Action Plan (Pacg) between Tehran and the world powers. With the release of gas into the platforms, the facility will go from being a research center authorized by the pact to becoming an active nuclear site.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said: "Thanks to American politics and its allies, the plant will soon return to full operation". The United States exited the contract, intensified sanctions against Iran and cut crude oil sales by more than 80%, bringing the Iranian economy to its knees.
IAEA, the International Atomic Energy Agency, whose purpose is to prevent the use of nuclear energy for military purposes, has made it known that its inspectors are already on the site of the Islamic Republic to monitor its activities.
