IAG: the new CEO will be Luis Gallego

Willie Walsh will leave in March

Willie Walsh, CEO of IAG (International Airlines Group), the Anglo-Spanish multinational born from the merger of British Airways and Iberia, will leave the holding in March and then retire in June. His replacement will be Luis Gallego Martin currently CEO of Iberia.

The president of Iag Antonio Vazquez commented "Under the guidance of Willie Walsh, IAG has become one of the main groups in the world of air transport and Willie has been the main protagonist of this reality which has consolidated over the years thanks to a strong leadership and a clear vision". Vazquez said he was "deeply respectful of the results achieved by the CEO, his sense of fairness, his transparency and the ability to integrate people regardless of nationality or background".

Luis Gallego Martin said: "It is a great honor for me to lead this company. It's an exciting time for IAG and I am confident that we can continue to grow starting from the solid foundations created by Willie Walsh".
