Coronavirus (2): US citizens left China
They will undergo meticulous screening before returning
The plane with the Americans evacuated from Wuhan, the city affected by the Chinese coronavirus, landed in Alaska, (see AVIONEWS). The 210 passengers, now in Anchorage, will undergo appropriate checks and then depart for the March Air Reserve Base near Riverside, California. Meanwhile, five cases of contagion have also been confirmed in America. According to officials from the outbreak control and prevention center, all passengers carried out tests and analyzes even before the trip. Those who show symptoms of cough, fever or shortness of breath will be further evaluated by experienced doctors. This was announced by the Alaska Health and Social Services Department.
For Italy, provisions are still awaited for the 70 Italians in Wuhan (see AVIONEWS). The Farnesina explained: "For the voluntary repatriation of Italians, there are procedures that have yet to be implemented and that do not depend entirely on us, but we do our best to do as soon as possible".
Because of the epidemic, the entire Chinese economic engine has suffered a violent setback: Toyota Motor will stop operations in China until February 9, adding to a very large list of companies, industries and multinationals that have reduced or ceased commercial activities in the People's Republic of China.
