Aeroflot reduces flights to the USA and suspends with UAE and Portugal
Meanwhile, the repatriation of some 2000 Russians stranded from Montenegro has begun
The Russian national airline Aeroflot said in a statement that from March 29 until April 30 it will suspend its connections to Washington, Miami, Los Angeles, Dubai and Lisbon. Its flights to the US will also be operated only on the Moscow-New-Moscow route. The carrier therefore complied with a decree signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in the context of government measures on the coronavirus emergency, which limits flights to the UK, the USA and the UAE, while those ones towards New York, London and Abu Dhabi can only be made from Terminal F of Moscow "Sheremetyevo" airport.
Meanwhile a news of these hours reports that an airplane of the airline left Montenegro yesterday evening to repatriate 150 compatriots who were stuck there: the Balkan country the day before yesterday had in fact denied the landing permit to the planes arrived to recover the Russian tourists blocked by the closure of the Montenegrin borders. The situation was then improved thanks to diplomatic interest.
Currently there are around 1800 Russians to be recovered in Montenegro. The repatriation will continue with charter flights of the carriers S7 and Pobeda: "We have reached agreements according to which the flights of the S7 and Pobeda airlines from Montenegro to Russia will be organized starting from March 19th. Russian carriers have obtained permission by the Montenegrin authorities", the Russian embassy wrote it on its Facebook page. Charters will take off from Podgorica airport.
