Planes. Freight transport in passenger cabin allowed in Russia
The Civil Aviation Authority gives the go-ahead to 7 national companies, for now
The Russian Civil Aviation Authority has allowed seven national companies to transport goods in the passenger cabin of their planes, and not only in the cargo hold. Thanks to the authorization, Aeroflot, Rossiya, Ural Airlines, PegasFly, Nordwind, Azur Air and Royal Flight (S7 Airlines will soon be added as eighth) will be able to bring those aircraft back to fly, at ground due to the severe air transport crisis due to the pandemic from Covid-19.
These cargo connections will be operated in the complete absence of passengers on board. The transport of goods is permitted only if the carrier takes into account the aircraft manufacturer's recommendations regarding weight, location and stability of the load, fire safety and centering. It is, the authority underlines it, a special concession that goes to the aid of the national airlines; the list is not definitive, and in possession of the appropriate requirements, the authorization will also be issued to other companies that request it.
