Hong Kong, China will not accept British passport as travel documents
Decision is a reaction to last politics of London
A decision that it’s creating discussions. China’s Foreign Affair Ministry is considering seriously the choice of not accepting BNO passports as valid travel documents. Beijing decided to react of last UK politic that allow to Hong Kong residents to claim British citizenship. Asian Ministry was very clear, London decisions represent a great violation of Inernational Law and they’re also an interference for affairs of this Country.
Announcement arrived few hours after declaration of Great Britain to extend residency of Hong Kong citizens in case of possession of Bno (British national overseas) passports. New measures will be adopted at the beginning of 2021, even if it won’t be easy to apply them. Chinese Ambassador in Uk was very worried about this violation, but also sure about a quick counter. Asian State wants to save its sovereignty.
British passport is a travel document that allow to go to Great Britain for six months without a visa. It’s not linked however to citizenship rights and it’s not useful to get a residency or a job. Hong Kong Consulate in United Kingdom talked about 3 million people that could have this document, so 40% of city’s residents could ask for it.
