Test: cargo transport on large drone aircraft completed in China

Experimental flight was called a success

SF Express, a Chinese company active in delivery services, has successfully completed the experimental test for freight transport by drone. The remotely piloted aircraft used in this case is, as reported by the press of the Asian country, a Uav Feihong-98 biplane, to be precise a large transport drone that left in the last hours from an airport in Ningxia Hui, in the north- west of the former celestial empire. The landing, on the other hand, took place in a stopover in Mongolia, specifically after an hour of flight. The aircraft has a total weight of 5.25 tons and can support loads up to 1.5 tons, while the space available in the cabin is 15 cubic meters.

The drone was designed and manufactured by SF Express itself and China Aerospace Times Electronics. Among its main features we can mention the maximum speed that reaches up to 180 kilometers per hour. For the first time ever a UAV biplane is used for these logistical flights in Chinese territory and the future prospects are encouraging to say the least. Operating costs are expected to fall considerably, so much so that there is explicit mention of “fierce” competition in road transport. One of the divisions of SF Express is called Fonair, a subsidiary that makes deliveries by drones using nine air routes.
