In next two years, new military drone aircraft for Russia
Prototype has already been successfully tested
Two decisive years for the strengthening of the Russian air force. According to what has been learned in the last few hours from sources close to the defense ministry, over the next 24 months there will be three Okhotnik military drones that will join the Moscow aircraft: this is a new government contract that has been signed by Russia with Sukhoi, a local company active in the aerospace sector. The stated goal from the beginning was to improve the radar and the S-70 prototype was tested together with Su-57 military aircraft (read also the article published by AVIONEWS). Initially the aircraft will go into action using human control, but progressively will focus on autonomous mode and artificial intelligence.
The scope is set to remain linked to the fuel supply: the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, despite an important update on the subject in August. Indeed, the Russian military department has come forward calling for an acceleration of drone development to allow troops to take advantage of new technologies as early as 2024. News was released in the same hours that Moscow successfully tested a hypersonic missile. Tsirkon which reached a hypersonic speed equal to eight times the speed of sound (over Mach 8 to be precise, as also detailed by AVIONEWS).
