USA, Nancy Pelosi: "No targeted aid for carriers"
President Trump called for new federal support
In recent days, American President Donald Trump was clear about national air transport: airlines must be supported with new federal aid (read also the article published by AVIONEWS), even if the speaker of US House Nancy Pelosi partially "held back" these intentions. Pelosi stressed in these hours that it is not possible to approve a bill with targeted support for a single sector, in this case the air sector. This is why the hypothesis of a separate rule for carriers has been denied, given that one should be approved to help the entire national economy.
During the weekly press conference, the speaker added that a $ 2,200 billion legislative proposal was presented to support families and businesses affected by the crisis. The words seem to be a very precise reversal of the thought of the Democrats, who had opened to a rule for air carriers only, given that not only from this party voices have been raised to meet the needs of airlines forced to sack massively (see AVIONEWS). One of the emblematic cases is that of American Airlines, forced to suspend services in various countries in October and November due to the failure to extend the economic support program.
