Condemnation of Profumo for derivatives Mps, no to resign from Leonardo
The current CEO of the Group said he was surprised and embittered
Six years of imprisonment: this is the sentence imposed in the first instance against Alessandro Profumo and Fabrizio Viola, on trial as former president and managing director of Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS). The investigation concerns the Tuscan bank and the financial derivatives Alexandria and Santorini. The prosecutor had asked for the acquittal for non-existence of the fact, instead the judges recognized the accusation of false corporate communications and stock manipulation as regards the accounting from 2012 to 2015. The total value of the derivatives we are talking about is equal to 5 billion euros; the judicial decision could not fail to be linked to the current role held by Profumo, CEO of Leonardo (read also the article published by AVIONEWS).
According to the latter group, there must be no resignation despite the sentence, and the "full confidence in the action of Profumo" was underlined. The fact that this is not a definitive sentence weighed heavily on the maintenance of the office, with the lawyers of the CEO who are ready to challenge the sentence, considered wrong on all fronts. Meanwhile, the same manager said he was surprised and embittered by the six years of imprisonment inflicted in the last few hours and reiterated that he had always worked for the companies in which he worked.
