First Nigerian female pilot hired
She will be aboard Qatar Airways aircraft
There is always a first time and civil aviation cannot be outdone in terms of debuts and particular records, as history taught us. Asian airline Qatar Airways will go down in history from now on for hiring what cannot be a crewmember like everyone else. Qatari company, in fact, decided to trust Adeola Ogunmola Sowemimo, first female pilot originally from Nigeria who has ever been hired. It had never happened that an airline took such a decision: the African Nation may perhaps not suggest a tradition of this type, but the woman we are talking about has a very respectable education.
Her degree dates back to almost ten years ago: in 2011, in fact, she finished her studies at the Sunrise Aviation Academy in the US State of Florida and started her career. After two decades, the Qatar Airways proposal arrived that could not be rejected. In this way, the carrier will be able to guarantee its direct flights with Nigeria, connections announced a few days ago; Sowemimo will fly a B-787 aircraft and also boasts an important record for another type of aircraft. She is the first woman to take off and land a B-767 after crossing the Atlantic Ocean.
