Aircraft and airlines. Colombia opens an investigation against 26 carriers

About various contractual clauses

Colombia has decided to focus its attention on 26 air carriers of different nationalities for a very specific reason: the clauses included in the contracts by these companies have damaged the passengers. Precisely on Wednesday April 28, 2021, the transport superintendency of the South American country announced the beginning of an investigation against the airlines in question, specifically those operating in these skies. Which vectors are we talking about? The list includes Aerolineas Argentinas, Aeroméxico, Air Canada, Air Europa, Air France, Air Transat, American Airlines, Avianca, Avior Airlines, Copa Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Easyfly, GCA Airlines, Iberia, Jetblue, KLM, Latam, Jetsmart , Regional Express, Satena, Sky Airline, Spirit Airlines, Turkish Airlines, United Airlines, Viva Air and Wingo. The discord clauses would make it possible to make unilateral changes to the fares and the same must be said for the conditions of purchase of tickets. Another aspect that made us turn up our noses concerns the language used to describe the terms of the trip. It would have been found the absence of the Spanish to explain clauses that exempt the liability for damages in relation to the baggage. The investigation we are talking about has displaced and not just the Iata (International Air Transport Association), according to which the contracts should be evaluated and inspected by the Civil Air Force and certainly not by the superintendency as is happening in Colombia. The local transport ministry was therefore invited to review the matter quickly.
